Spooky season is finally upon us. As the leaves begin to fall, it marks a time of fun and fantasy, hocus pocus, woodland walks, collecting conkers and getting cosy indoors.
It’s no secret that we’re huge fans of a good old craft activity over here, so what better way to kick off this magical time of the year than with a fun, spooky themed activity that little ones will love to get stuck into. This amazing tree decoration is sure to be a hit and will take you all the way through to those much anticipated Halloween celebrations.
Let’s begin.
How to make a Halloween Tree - Part 1
You will need:
- Twigs/small tree branches
- Black poster paint
- Silver glitter glue
- Thick paint brushes
- A tall, heavy based vase or pot
Ready, steady, craft.
- Get wrapped up and go on a little woodland walk with the kiddies to collect some twigs or small tree branches. You will need to collect a good handful of a similar size and length - ensuring there are plenty of branches for hanging decorations (more on that in a little while).
- Arrange your twigs onto a surface with a protective cover over it. Take the black poster paint and paint the twigs until they are totally covered. Leave them to dry for at least 5 hours.
- Next, take the silver glitter glue and dab it over the surface of the twigs to create a sparkly effect. Leave to dry.
- Finally, arrange your twigs into a vase or container. You may need to add some weight to the bottom by adding a few rocks or pebbles, so that it doesn’t topple over. Voila, your Halloween Tree is complete.
- Time to add some spooky DIY decorations, coming up in part 2!
