At Scandibørn, we’re always looking for products that genuinely make everyday life easier for parents. So when we launched KAOS, we knew we had found something special.

After an incredibly positive response from our community, we wanted to go a little deeper. What’s the story behind the design? What makes it different? And why are so many parents calling it the most convenient high chair they’ve ever used?

BEHIND THE BRAND with Gineline Kalleberg Co-Founder of KAOS

We caught up with Gineline Kalleberg - CMO and Co-Founder of KAOS, to talk about the thinking behind the Klapp high chair, from its clever fold-flat design to its beautiful Scandinavian aesthetic, and how it’s built to support families from day one through the weaning years and beyond.

"What was the “this needs to exist” moment that led to creating KAOS Klapp?"

"We had that exact moment standing in our own kitchens. Bulky high chairs that took up too much space, were hard to move and a nightmare to manage, and frankly they didn’t look good. We kept thinking: why hasn’t anyone solved this properly?

"We wanted something that worked for real homes and fit into our Scandinavian homes - not just big kitchens, but smaller apartments, busy mornings, and life on the go. We reached out to Ole Petter Wullum, a recognized Norwegian Product designer and architect, for help. And that’s where Klapp started: together we created a high chair that folds flat, looks beautiful, and actually makes everyday life easier."

Female-founded and parent driven | How does that lived experience influence every decision you make?

"We design from lived frustration, not theory. Every detail comes from real parenting moments, messy meals, lack of space, needing things to just work smoothly.
Being mothers means we don’t overcomplicate. If something feels unnecessary, it’s gone. If something isn’t intuitive, it’s redesigned. The goal is always the same: less friction, more flow in everyday life."

- Gineline

What everyday problems were you determined to solve  with Klapp?

"Space, flexibility, and usability. And of course: to make it as sustainable as possible. Most high chairs are static - they become part of the clutter. We wanted Klapp to disappear when you don’t need it, and be effortless when you do. Also: no complicated adjustments, no tools, no frustration. Parents have enough going on."

- Gineline

From newborn to toddler, How does Klapp grow with a child?

"Klapp is designed to follow the child from day one. With the newborn seat, babies can join
the table from day one, and as they grow, the chair adapts with the various attachments.
That flexibility matters because families don’t want to keep replacing products. You invest
once, and it stays with you through multiple stages and multiple children, when relevant."  - Gineline

5. Style meets function | Tell us about the collaboration with Ole Petter Wullum

Tell us about the collaboration with Ole Petter Wullum

"Ole Petter is a Norwegian Product Designer with a rare ability to strip things down to their
essence. His vision was to create something visually light, almost architectural, while solving a real functional challenge."

"Instead of adapting the chair to the child, we let the child adapt to the chair.” – Ole Petter Wullum

"The fold-flat mechanism and three fixed steps are a direct result of that thinking – they’re not just features, they are core of the design. The fixed steps allow the child to grow into new positions resting their feet on various steps, as opposed to constantly having to adjust the steps. They also promote independence because the child can easily step up and down from the chair by themselves from early on. The result is a chair that feels effortless both in use and in appearance " - Gineline

Fold-flat magic, how does that make life easier?

"It changes everything, honestly. You can hang it on the wall, slide it behind a door, take it with you to friends or grandparents - it adapts to your life instead of the other way around. And it’s so convenient to bring on if you're going places! In addition, we know that the safest high chair is the one that’s neatly tucked away. As we researched deeply into the high chair category, we learned that the most common accident with high chairs - in general – is that children climb on them when you’re not around to supervise. So even if you have enough space to leave it by the table, KLAPP is easy to fold so you can easily put it away when not in use." - Gineline

How does Klapp fit into modern homes?

"Modern families in urban environments are often short on space, but high on expectations.
Klapp is designed exactly for that reality. It takes up minimal room, blends into the interior, and when you need space back - you simply fold it away. It’s a small product with a surprisingly big impact on how a home feels."  - Gineline

The KAOS Klapp Wall Hook in colour Natural turns your Klapp High Chair into a stylish, space-saving feature. Crafted in a natural wood finish, it lets you hang your high chair on the wall, keeping it out of the way but always within reach.

What’s been most meaningful to hear?

"When parents say: “I didn’t realise how much I would love this until I used it.” And when they say siblings argue over it because they both want to sit on the Klapp. That’s probably the biggest compliment. Also hearing that it becomes part of their daily rhythm - not something they think about, just something that works. That feels like our biggest accomplishment." - Gineline

Tell us about your use of recycled materials

"We believe better design and better materials have to go hand in hand.
That’s why we’ve developed a version of Klapp made from 100% recycled consumer plastic. It’s not just about reducing waste - it’s about proving that sustainable materials can meet the same standards for durability, safety, and aesthetics.

For today’s families, that transparency and responsibility really matters.
To make a long story short: We collaborate with the biggest player in the Nordics within
recycling, called NG Nordic. NG Nordic collects plastic waste from Nordic households. The
waste is cleaned and recycled at their facilities in Finland. The plastic waste is transformed
into pellets - and these pellets are transported to our manufacturer in The Netherlands. The pellets are then injected into huge molds at extreme temperatures, making the material flow into every part of the molds. Once the material inside the mold cools down, The KLAPP Recycled somes out of the molds, ready to be assembled, packed and shipped to our customers. It’s so cool, we love being at the manufacturer overseeing the production."  - Gineline

Why is Klapp worth the investment?

"Because you’re not buying a high chair - you’re buying the high chair. It grows with your child, it doesn’t break your space, and it’s built to last through years of daily use. Many families use it for multiple children, and it still looks and functions beautifully. In the end, it’s about buying less, but better!

It’s clear that the Kaos Klapp isn’t just another high chair - it’s a thoughtful solution to the realities of modern family life. From its space saving design to its ability to grow with your child, every detail has been considered with parents in mind. It’s practical, it’s beautiful, and most importantly, it makes everyday moments that little bit easier.

Because when something works this well, it doesn’t just fit into your home - it becomes a seamless, trusted part of everyday family life."  - Gineline
