Valentine’s Day Inspired Craft – Paper Flower Bouquet

Valentine’s Day Inspired Craft – Paper Flower Bouquet

2 min read

With Valentine's Day approaching, what better way to spread a little love than to say it with flowers!

This sweet paper flower activity is ideal for a spot of half term crafting with your little cupids and makes a thoughtful gift idea to present to loved ones too.

You Will Need:

  • Red craft card/paper sheets
  • Green craft card/paper sheets
  • Pen/pencil
  • Scissors
  • Craft Glue

Ready, Steady, Craft:

1. Take a square piece of craft paper and fold it in half lengthways, then fold it in half again, so that you have 4 folds across the paper.

2. Now take your scissors (always supervise little ones and if possible, use child friendly scissors) and cut across each fold so that you are left with 4 strips of paper.

3. Take a strip and fold it in half to make a smaller square.

4. Along the folded edge, draw half a heart, then take your scissors again and cut this out. You should now have a heart-shaped piece of paper.

5. Repeat with the other 3 strips of paper until you have 4 heart shaped ‘petals’.

6. Take your green paper and cut out a long strip. This is for your stem, so cut the strip as long as you would like them to be. (For guidance we used approximately 10cm long by 5cm wide).

7. Then simply roll your paper tightly lengthways to make a cylinder shape and glue the long edge to hold it securely in place. Leave it to one side to dry. Alternatively, you could use a paper straw and paint it green.

8.Next, take your petals and glue 3 of them together, as shown:

9. Before you glue the last one, place your stem inside and glue it to the petal to secure it in place. Now you can glue the last petal together.

10. Voila – you have a beautiful heart shaped flower.

11.You can add glitter or any other decorative elements as you wish.

12. Why not make a bouquet and tie them together with ribbon for an extra special gift.

We hope you enjoyed this lovely little Valentines craft.
